Today Nike introduce the full length version of “Everything is Practice”, a short film with Spike Lee assistant coaching his sons soccer league at the Sara D. Roosevelt Park field in Chinatown, New York. Directed by Jake Sumner. Photography by Nabil Elderkin.
A BRAND, A LIFESTYLE, A TEAM CALLED…..
The infamous PIE N CHIPS F.C, so where it all began….. pie and chips you hear.. the giggles , the smirks.. “what”, “who”, “you cant name your team that” . Heard it all before.
Well it all began in the summer of 2006, a jobless summer of football, outrageous drinking (literally spent my redundancy in 2 months on beer) and meeting what has come to be a great bunch of folk i now call team mates. Through the natural up`s and downs on an international cup….. the laughter, the tears , the chants, cheers and heart break a natural bond is formed. Soon to arise after the Ronaldo and Rooney drama had dropped we all re-grouped and to cut it short pie and chips were established.
After a positive first season into a small league in Brooklyn we grew in stature and confidence. A nice feeling of the team to “fear” the team to “beat”. Reminiscing in my head hearing my grandad in the past quoting the lines from the likes of Don Revie and Billy Bremner when his team (Leeds utd) were the bullies of the game .. a team that relished upon this… with this said and my love, passion and admiration of Leeds united i decided the pies were to follow suit. Not a direct look alike or take on Leeds in the 70`s but a secret DNA.. an inner meaning to the choice of colour… the ball in the badge, font choice and layout. All from the era, all influenced by the “damned united”.
To show this i created a small mood board, referencing above and other attributes. From the ye old English grub where our name comes from to font and colour reference. All perfectly placed to create the new 2009 PIE N CHIPS F.C badge… GLORY GLORY PNC.f.C!
KNUCKLE UP!
Just a short and cheeky one, couple of swigs of coffee and i land on this lil beauty… i had to post! Check out the soap “dusters” over at spyedesign. A Harlem based design company that specializes in urban inspired design, product and accessories.

NIKE “V” IS FOR VICTORY
Over a brew i stumbled across this little number… The letter V as a symbol of the Nike campaign, entitled “V is for Victory.” Featured athletes, like the Ivorian Didier Drogba and joe cole, Rafael Nadal among others. A sign drawn on the chest and covered with dust for some ocher, dressed in a jacket to others. Check the images and vid below…

RESULT!
So a few days ago i was put on to a lil event that was goin on over at Reed Space by the giftd. It was only the official release party of the new Umbro England shirt… is that not crazy?? After numerous debates over the new shirt at England’s win over Slovakia on sat, after id watched the documentary and had knowledge of what had actually gone in the the process of this shirt, i was now in a position where i cud win one of these beauty’s! I went on the site, RSVP pronto and foot tapped anctiously all the way through the day till 6 o’clock.
Got there, wasn’t too busy and my mate Seany Mac had been there since the 4 o’clock opening, (free Carlsberg let me add) hence he was a bit worse for wear and was chin wagging the hell out of some poor photographer on my arrival. Soon after debs turned up and before you knew it the raffle was being drawn. I still foot tapping i sat staring at my “lucky” ticket hearing 5 or 6 random numbers and then realizing there were 2 more to go.. long story short debs won and i didn’t. 1 number away! Gahh!
After conversating with my new friend Niko, he firmly suggested i come back the next day for another bash at the raffle.. so guess what.. i did! i ran down after work, not as fast as the day before but i got there sharpish with the local celebrity smiler, karma-tastic. Beers in, raffle starts.. 3rd number in…209!! holy Fuck.. i won… cant believe it! Check out the pics peeps… you’ve godda love it! Lets just hope the shirt has the luck to take us all the way the the next star….

Mr. Ridley crossed my path in a small pizza shop in mid town, he was working on a spoken word x triphop colab with Geko Jones whom ive blogged about before. Im guessing it was back in 2004/5… he was a banker then, banker as in a person that works in a bank, not a word rhyming with banker that starts with a “W”, lol. Honestly ive met no other like him, he inspires and fills you with creativity, floods your mind with wonderful ideas and just makes you want to tear the clothing from miss. Inspiration and ride her till the dinosaur`s come back!Hiis skills vairy from spray paint via print, web, photography, motion and film to all things music, beats, sound engineering, producing and spinng the wheels of steel… A true legend of a friend, super talented who quite literally masters everything he touches. keep it up rids!!

I love this concept… Kenzodigi (Nam Jun Pak’s apprentice) spent hours Splicing together numerous music videos and movies to make one fantastic mind pleasing movie, “City of God’s Son” is an experimental hip-hop opera starring Nas, Jay Z, Ghostface, Biggie Smalls, Raekwon, Samuel Jackson, Delroy Lindo, and Laurence Fishburne. It is a crime drama/coming of age tale of three fictitious characters growing up in a crime ridden mythical city in a jungle.

Yey! were on the map (well apart from jerm, Dilk Small kid, and many more.. well 8 yrs when i was back home) for urban art in the U.K. I love the way shes bringing obvious happenings that are being ignored to peoples attention…
Public Urination signs appear accross Nottingham during Christmas 2008 accompanied by a letter from the council…. lasted between 6 and 7 hours.. WACK!
“In a recorded message to the Evening Post, Questionmarc, warned that she “will be back”.
She said the signs – which appeared around the city before Christmas – were a reminder that there were so many pubs in Nottingham but no toilets after closing time. She also called into question the use of longer licensing hours.
The signs which were put up last month displayed a male toilet logo with text saying “Public urination permitted after 7.30pm.”
They were accompanied by an official-looking, laminated letter in Nottingham City Council-headed paper which claimed the urination points were an “attempt to reduce late-night nuisance during the holiday period” and “address the growing problem of householders having to clean up after late-night revelers.”

Ok…. Ok so i know 2 posts on football (soccer) in 2 days.. it wasn’t planned honestly, its not my fault the beautiful game is becoming ever more popular over here in the states. So after getting in, settling down, allowing the sweat to evaporate from the center of my back i popped the kettle on and surfed through my regular morning blogs… to my surprise i read a post on Uncrate about a lil emerging brand “bumpy Pitch”. Ive noticed while watching sports channels such as Fox Soccer a few vintage tees here and there, place on presenters and football stars during certain shows and interviews… well well well to my surprise it was tees from Bumpy pitch them selves…. be sure to check them out, ive quoted a lil from there website about who these jolly fellas are..

Today being “thee” day a lot of peoples attention has been diverted to the man him self… I love Shepard Fairey`s (the fella behind Obey) Obama campaign, the fact that on Jan 20th `09 an urban artist will make it into the U.S National portrait gallery is “change “ in its self… pop the kettle on and take a quick peek at the man behind the madness.
WHATS UP “DUCK?”
A few months back i went to visit a few good friends of mine out in San Fran (bars close early, not my favorite place in the states) One afternoon while they were doing there thing i decides to take a stroll up some very large hills! After a while of heavy sweat and miles upon miles of trekking i stumbled upon a store called D-Structure. A very friendly fella and i got talking shot the sh*t discussed the uber differences between San Fran and New York.. i turned my head and this lil fella caught my eye.. its was only the “Gangsta” duck by Nigel Li. The lil quacker was part of Project 218 which is a cool idea where 15 alumni artists from San Jose State University’s Illustration/Animation program reunite to share their amazing work, and unique vision in a 30 day gallery exhibit. Unfortunately he was a tad to much for what i had in my pocket (how much is that ducky in the window??!..) and i had to leave the wee lil fella behind. I waved good by and carried on the rest of my very eventful day.
I arrived back at the hotel. hyped the lil duck up a treat…. to my surprise on my return “thegiftd” had got me a gift… there he was… sat right there… hes amazing!
